About Us

The agency was founded in 1901 by Joseph H. Arthur, in 1935 he was joined by his son-in-law, Walter B. Gunning. In 1950, Walter's son, John J. Gunning joined the agency and in 1966 the agency was incorporated as Gunning Agency, Inc.

John J. Gunning passed away on September 24, 1996. Ruth A. Granger became owner of Gunning Agency Inc.

Member of: Kiwanis of Ticonderoga, Women of the Moose Fraternity, Serves on the Board for Pride of Ticonderoga and is Treasurer of the Putnam Volunteer Fire Co. Auxiliary.

	Linda Hanchett - lindah@gunningagency.com I have an associates degree in business administration from NCCC and started my insurance career by joining Gunning Agency, Inc. in 1989. I am a NYS licensed agent and broker for personal and commercial insurance and also hold a NYS life insurance license. I hold a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation and update this each year. Continuing education is a requirement so I attend numerous classes annually. The insurance industry is an exciting business to be in as it constantly changes and we get to meet and work with nice people.

	Marie Woods - mariew@gunningagency.com 12 years with Gunning Agency as receptionist Lives locally, married 33 years to husband John. Two children, John Jr and Steven and daughter-in-law Corie, and a beautiful granddaughter Emily-Marie Some of my hobbies are: reading, crocheting, walking and cross country skiing and Love being with family.

	Wanda Woodard - wandaw@gunningagency.com January 2007I celebrated my 21st anniversary with the Gunning Agency, Inc. She lives locally, married 33 years to husband John and have two sons named John Jr and Jason. She has two granddaughters and one grandson. Some of her hobbies are reading, crocheting, walking , genealogy. She is a trustee of the Ticonderoga Historical Society and a member of the Penfield Foundation and Saratoga Heritage Hunters.

	Starr Pelerin - starrp@gunningagency.com Starr joined Gunning Agency, Inc. in May, 2004 and became a NYS licensed agent for Personal and Commercial Property & Casualty insurance and Life and Accident & Health insurance. Her prior career was in banking for over 20 years. She lives locally and married 30 years to husband, Fred. They have two sons, Brandon (and Christi) and Darrin; and a granddaughter, Sydney Jean. She is treasurer of Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce; board secretary of Housing Assistance Program of Essex County, Inc. (HAPEC), and is active in her church. Some of her hobbies include favorites shared with Fred: motorcycling, camping, and being with family and friends.
